CO2

Precise laser surgery for skin lesions

What it is

Light instead of steel.

Pets affected with a variety of skin and ear conditions can benefit from dermatological laser therapy at VetDERM Clinic. We are proud to offer laser surgery as a progressive option for clients who want a gentle, lower-discomfort treatment for their pets.

Laser therapy has been used in human healthcare for a long time and is a well-established option with many skin and dermatology related applications. At VetDERM Clinic, a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser is used to provide precise and versatile effects in the soft tissue of the skin. In many cases laser surgery can offer meaningful advantages over traditional surgery, and in some situations it may be the most practical surgical option. Our team is happy to discuss whether laser surgery is the right option for your pet.

Laser therapy is provided using the Aesculight CO2 laser. This flexible fibre laser is known for its precision and versatility, bringing current laser technology to our clients and their pets.

Why laser

  • Less pain — the laser seals nerve endings as it moves through soft tissue
  • Reduced infection risk — heat helps reduce bacteria in treated areas
  • Less bleeding — small blood vessels are sealed during surgery
  • Less swelling — only light contacts the soft tissue
  • Extreme precision — healthy surrounding skin is left untouched
  • Faster recovery — pets may return to normal activities sooner

Common questions

Not always. In many cases laser surgery can offer meaningful advantages, and in some situations it may be the most practical surgical option — but the right choice depends on the lesion, the location and your pet. Our team will talk it through with you.

That depends on the procedure and the site. We will confirm the plan with you before booking.
